Elder + Oat

The first thing I noticed was lots of smiles on the faces of the customers and the staff. The energy was great and the products were fresh and delicious. Loved the bread selection. Our focaccia was still warm when placed in the to-go container. It is really nice having a unique local business back in West Dundee. Bold coffee. We will go back soon and often.

I love this place! Food is great. Coffee also excellent. The barista during the week is the only one I’ve met but she is fantastic. The decor is warm and cozy. Please visit and support local small businesses.

AMAZING!! I had a dark chocolate oat milk latte and a brown sugar scone. They were delicious! Finally a place I can indulge and feel good about my choices too! I HIGHLY recommend this adorable place! 🤩

Where do I even begin? I drove an hour to get there because I absolutely loved this place as craft, loved it so much that I never shut up about it because of their donuts which were the absolute best and their coffee was amazing. Now, I'm one to support a fresh start and I was super excited to try this place because I was basically in love with craft. I had a few of their pastries and there was one that was halfway decent but the rest were all not good (stale pastries which were tiny). Got 2 lattes and both were sour tasting. Over priced as well, I spent $40 on horrible pastries and coffee. I'm not usually this harsh but I am very disappointed in this place. I wish them the best of luck with their new business but I will not be returning. If you like it, that's great for you but personally I was not a fan.

Updated Review August 15 & 20, 2021. Tried again with a peach cobbler as suggested and a few other baked goods. And honestly not my cup of tea. I tried a few times and I can't get past the taste of their baked good. Good luck to the owners I'm sure your vegan friendly customers appreciate your efforts.

...........August 8 2021 review. Have gone a few times. Coffee is fantastic. Tried a few different options, not impressed. The donuts are heavy tasting and lack flavor. The brownies are nothing special either. Zuchinni bread was almost a brownie consistency, tried few other sweets and honestly not impressed. Will go back for the coffee, not the sweets.

Have been quite a few times now. The lemon cardamom cake is truly the best dessert I have ever had. Everyone is also always so kind, and goes out of their way to make your experience great. Perfect place to stop in or pick up and enjoy.

Really enjoyed the aesthetic of Elder + Oat. I appreciate the viewing window of where they were making the dough / batter for the baked goods. I liked the Golden Milk + Honey latte. Where you order was a little unclear, but overall I'd certainly return.

Our whole family loves going to Elder+Oat. It’s a cozy place with great coffee and amazing bakery items. We love that they serve counter culture coffee and they strive to always improve. My favorite bakery items is their vegan donuts, they just do them right! Check them out, you won’t regret it. 😊

The coffee here is amazing and the focaccia with pesto is out of this world. The staff here go above and beyond and are incredibly friendly, and the ambiance of the cafe is warm, welcoming, and not at all pretentious. A great place to stop while biking on the trail, walking through town or to catch up with an old friend. Great coffee and great baked goods - who could ask for more?
