I knew the owner from 8 years ago when I was still a student at Iowa State and she was managing the Chinese grocery store on Lincoln, definitely the sweetest lady! I went back to visit Ames 8 years after graduation and learned that she opened this store so I paid her a visit and she has not changed a bit, still very kind, generous and courteous just as I remembered. Bought their boba milk tea, it tastes so good! Highly recommend!
Always love coming here and I’ve never had a bad experience with the drinks or the staff! I’m always greeted with a very friendly hello and whenever I’m not sure what to get the staff always has a suggestion. Their specialty milk teas are all wonderful, but my personal favorite is the Jasmin green milk tea with passion fruit and the honey pearl boba. We recently moved out of town but we still plan on making special trips just to get their boba!
I went here with my friend while birthday shopping for our boyfriends. We stopped in to get a drink and I was absolutely overwhelmed by the menu and had no idea what to get or where to start. The ladies who worked there were so super kind! They walked me through it and one recommended me one of her favorite fruit teas. It made the ordering process so much easier for me. I got an oolong based fruit tea with pineapple and rose and honey pearls. It was AMAZING! I hadn't had something so refreshing in forever. My friend got a Thai tea which is one of our favorite drinks and the version they serve there is wonderful. We are definitely going to go back. Friendly staff and amazing service. 💖💖💖 It made our day.
Pretty good street going back. Friendly service. Everyone has an off-day.
Usually pretty good smoothies but today was a p bad experience. I used my "free" drink (it's really a discount of $4.50 which I don't think any drink here qualifies since they're all pretty much $5+) and I found a hair in my smoothie. I thought it was on the outside but it was in the inside after I couldn't scrape it off 🙈 No worries though! I smashed through the lid with my pointy straw and dug it out with my barehands like the caveman I am. 🦍
But worse yet was I think the smoothie was blended for about two seconds since there were chunks of ice that rival in size those still floating around in the Artic circle. 🧊🥶🧊
First time at Tea Time today—we ordered one Signature Milk Tea and one Black Sugar Milk Tea. The tapioca pearls themselves are okay. They taste like the 5 minute pearls they sell near the front of the store, but maybe they’re not. The flavor of the honey pearls in the Signature milk tea is nice. The overall texture of these bubbles is not ideal—they lack a certain light, bouncy consistency that great bubbles have. The Black Sugar Milk Tea has a nice taste. The Signature Milk Tea has a bitter aftertaste, as if the tea had been over steeped. I ordered it less sweet, so that could be contributing to the overall taste, but adding more sugar only somewhat masks over steeped (and thus bitter) tea (speaking from experience lol).
The store is really cute and fun and has some authentic snacks you’d find in Asia.
Staff are very friendly. Tea was great, we ordered one oolong tea with honey pearls and one earl grey milk tea with honey pearls. This is one of my brother and I’s favorite boba places in Ames and we would suggest it highly. Can’t wait for the dining room to return!
These owners are the nicest people you ever meet The tea is delicious. I can't get enough of this place. Definitely recommend anyone so many flavors to choose from as well as some snacks and food options great local little spot.
I love the bubble tea! I think I usually get a Thai Ice Tea Bubble tea. This place has a very positive atmosphere and the baristas are great. Little expensive but not too much so go here if you want to treat yourself! Yum.
I used to live in cities without bubble tea? How did I survive!?
