New World Café

I’ve been a regular at many coffee shops, and after visiting this place a few times, the whole vibe is just completely off. The coffee is alright, thanks to the baristas, but the owner does not have his heart in the right place to be running a coffee shop. The staff are always talking amongst themselves about their various mistreatments; it’s clear the manager does not care at all about them (or the customers). Their extreme turnover rate speaks to how bad the employee experience must be; there’s new people every week and they never stick around for long. Their food safety practices are archaic and the “free” water usually has stuff floating in it. The portions are generous, but the food has made me feel sick multiple times. Not only is the owner explicitly (verbally) anti-Black, but he will also run you out of the place if you sit down for a second before ordering or if you ask for your drink to be remade because there’s a problem. Needs a reality check for sure. I’d recommend going anywhere else for Black & White coffee, which a ton of other businesses with better morals sell.

Great selection of coffees, lots of breakfast options, nice people and friendly atmosphere. I got almond milk latte and açaí bowl! Both were delicious 😋

Good coffee, good scones. My one beef is that they pull the name to use for the order from the card you use to pay, meaning that if that's not your name anymore and you've not changed it legally yet, you get hit in the face with an old name. In most establishments I wouldn't have as much of a problem, but this Cafe is labelled LGBTQ+ friendly, and cafes are classically sort of safe spaces, given the usually very chill vibes. Still, if that's not something that impacts you, defo recommend this place. Mocha was a bit stronger than I'm used to, but I am also used to Starbucks so my standards are all messed up lol

Coconut macaroons are good and they have tons of options for coffee. I haven’t tried the food yet but honestly I wanted to comment on how cool and sweet the workers are. Really good customer service and they’re just very unique people!! I’m happy that I have finally found this place and I recommend. :)

While visiting friends in Raleigh, we got to-go coffees on Saturday. They were so good we took our friends with us on Sunday and had breakfast. Great coffee, great food and an interesting menu, and staff members who cared about getting your order correct. Will go back when we are in Raleigh.

The coffee is delicious and the food is always super fresh and made to order! I’ve been coming here for years and the service is always great no matter the time of day. They have every kind of coffee, a bunch of different teas, smoothies and specialty drinks too.

After visiting the Van Gogh experience at the old Promenade 7 Cinema, the missus and I were looking for a right fine place to have lunch when we came across New World. We ordered a couple of sandwich wraps, a coffeenated drink and had a seat.

These wraps were something to behold. I had the curry chicken salad and my wife, the BLT. They were amazing and big enough to eat half for lunch and half the next day for breakfast. My Asian slaw was delicious as well.

We've definitely found a new stop-in place on the rare occasion we find ourselves in the Glenwood Ave area.

This place is exceptional beyond belief. Their lattes beat out the best of Chicago. Intelligentsia and Illy have nothing on new world. Pulling the perfect shot of espresso is an art and a science. Starbucks has the science with their automatic machines. But here they have both. And you can taste it.

No better espresso beverages anyplace we have been and that covers a large portion of the western hemisphere. They are very particular about the ingredients and their equipment and it shows.

A personal favourite anytime I'm in this part of town! Fantastic service and knowledgeable staff that will recommend a great coffee every time.
