Great coffee & muffins, but that’s it. I’ve never encountered such rude staff & I feel like it’s racially motivated against me. I’ve seen how they treat other customers compared to me & I’ve been the only black person in the Café each time I’ve visited. It’s such a shame because this place is actually good.

I don't know what happened to this place, but it went downhill fast. I ordered a 20 oz. drink, but they gave me one in 16 oz. I raised this to them, but the worker there was being rude and said it was 20oz (which is a lie), another said they only have 2 cup sizes despite the board clearly stating otherwise. To top it off, some old woman (I assume is the manager there) measured the cup in front of me and proved that it was in fact 16 oz., but she clearly did not comprehend the situation. I'm questioning whether these other reviews are legit now, because the people currently working there don't have a clue on what they're doing. I'm not going back to this place, OR that HPB again (some of their book sections don't have a good variety anymore).

Espresso was okay. Milk technique was pretty poor. BUT amazing service. Katie was super awesome and helpful.

The best Iced Mocha ever!! So smooth every time, never bitter like I’ve experienced at a lot of other coffee shops. I love this place

This coffee shop is tucked into the Half Price Bookstore. It has outlets and tables so you can work or read. I love the staff. They are always friendly and patient. I tried their triple layered chocolate cake with strawberries between each layer. It was very good!

This place has been a haven for me for years, I even went to this half price books as a kid. Moving back years later and actually being able to drink the coffee, in my favorite bookstore, with the coolest baristas who I've had the pleasure to get to know over the last couple of years, there's really no way to go wrong. I love that all the employees are alternative, I love that they play their own music, I love that they make my favorite Chai latte in all of Dallas, strike up conversation, and give an honest response when you ask how they've been. There's very few places I feel more comfortable to just come in, be my awkward self, and enjoy a damn good coffee. When moving into my new apartment, I put into consideration how close I was to my favorite place to relax (here).
Can't wait for this pandemic to get better & see Black Forest Coffee reopen.

I've been coming here for years to study, relax, have a coffee, etc. It's a great place to spend a couple of hours. My only complaint would be the hours of operation- they close too early!

Really well-priced coffee for the area that it's in. Also located inside of the Half Price Books flagship so it's hard to resist going in and picking up a couple of books (and by that I mean I always go in). They have good bakery options and sandwiches with creative names. Lots of flavors available to add into the drinks. They also sell day-old scones and loaves for half-off and they still taste pretty fresh.
