Middle Way Cafe

Just got back up to Anchorage and Middle Way was one of my first stops. As a vegan who likes GOOD vegan options, Alaska can be a little challenging, but Middle Way never disappoints. As a bonus, they have local Alaskan art on the walls.

I can definitely recommend the vegan breakfast burrito and Tropic Thunder smoothie. The best part though was the people working there. Everyone I interacted with was friendly and helpful- the man taking orders, the barista and the man with a bun who seemed to be some sort of manager.

Done with this place. Their ordering system is a hot mess. Sometimes when you call to place an order, this annoying recording keeps coming on while you are on hold, “please hold. Please hold. Please hold”. This happened on Monday, and then it ended the call. I called back a second time and was able to speak with someone to place my order. They told me 30 minutes. When I got to the restaurant, the cashier couldn’t find my order in their system. Then she took a bit of an attitude with me when she asked what name the order was under. She told me I would have to wait until my order was actually ready to pay. I asked her if she was sure that my order was even entered into their system to which I didn’t really get an answer. I waited well after 30 minutes would have elapsed until I finally got disgusted and left.

Always a great experience here.
They have breakfast, brunch, and lunch.
Large enough portions for me to have some to bring home.
Definitely a place to check out if you enjoy fresh tasting food.

Their food is always delicious. However? As a long time food worker that appreciates Middle Way’s claimed attention to cleanliness, the woman at the register was sipping on her ice water and her coffee drink at the register while helping customers. Was grossed out and unimpressed! Need to up the customer service game if they want to bring back the pleasant experience this place used to be pre-covid.

My wife and I had breakfast here and it was outstanding. We shared an order of Mexican Benedict. The chorizo was not greasy and the hollandaise was so good. The portions are pretty large so I am so glad that we split the order. We'll definitely be back.

Waited 35 mins for a burrito...was told several times just 5 more minutes and it never came. Left after 35mins.

Great variety of food and drinks for people with food allergies, vegans, and other healthy conscious people. Also, a good place for for people who like meats and hardy meals.
