Strange Matter Coffee

The Instagram worthy donuts always taste amazing and they have the best coffee in Lansing! Not to mention their management care deeply about keeping the staff and customers safe, always. Highly recommend them!

Great coffee, great atmosphere. Seriously, the coffee just tastes amazing. I love that they have so many options to customize- oat and almond milk, decaf espresso. The doughnuts and scones are amazing- my favorite is the everything doughnut! They have some pretty good gf options as well. Staff are friendly and the shop is a great cozy place to meet a friend or work.

Strange Matter is my absolute favorite local business! I have never had a single thing on their menu I didn't like, and they always have something new and creative to try. My favorites are the NOLA iced coffee and the Boston Cream doughnut though! We also love to buy their bean coffee for a little something special at home.

My wife and I held a coffee tasting content with boutique coffee roasters from all over the US last year and Strange Matter came out as the #1 winner (actually, not rigged). They also have the best Gluten free donuts and we're super happy with their gluten free cheesecake as well (in partnership with Mr. Leslie's Cheesecakes).

This is my place. Every time I travel somewhere I try to find a coffee shop at my destination that I like as much as Strange Matter and rarely succeed. Their roasts are incredible, their baked goods are delicious, it’s a wonderful atmosphere, and the humans behind the whole thing are really innovative, community-focused, and kind. I wish I could give it 100 stars.

I came in today between 10:30 - 11am before a zoom call and got a blueberry doughnut (Yum!) with an iced matcha.

The doughnut was great! The iced matcha was foamy, warm and had little matcha pieces on the bottom of the cup.

I’ve had this drink before and I’ve seen the girl who made it in there before so I don’t know if the recipe changed but usually not like this.

Please change it back if its a new recipe. :(

It's rated nearly 5-stars for good reason. Locations have good vibe and friendly, relaxed customer service. I always feel welcomed when I visit. I've had standard and pumpkin lattes (both hot). Standard is pretty typical, but has a darker and nuttier taste than typical chain brands. The pumpkin latte is like a thin soup. It's rich, flavorful, and not too sweet. It tastes authentic (because it is) and not artificial. The savory scone is tender and flavorful. Some may say it's too salty; not I. Their donuts are good as well. Great having this company in town!

My husband and I love Strange Matter’s donuts and coffee so much that we decided to have both at our wedding. They were a hit! The donuts were an appetizer and a dessert. Thank you so much to the Strange Matter team for everything!

Wonderful experience this past weekend. Delicious vegan options for doughnuts! Great, warm, and welcoming staff. If you are in the Lansing area I highly recommend stopping in.

Love EVERYTHING about this place! The first thing I ever tried, the Honey Cinnamon latte (over four years ago) sold me and I’ve been a fan ever since. Obsessed with their donuts too!
