Strange Matter Coffee

I love to come and create on a lazy afternoon at strange matter. They offer gluten-free and vegan pastries and have always been kind to me when I ask about allergens. They offer a variety of milks and are pretty accommodating with allergens, as much as they are able to. The environment is friendly and inclusive.

Great drinks, great staff, great selection of baked goods. Loved a particularly herbaceous scone I had. I noticed the fennel, so thank you to whoever bakes them!

Also just had to note that in following SM I was able to be made aware that another Lansing Business was providing a safe space for White Nationalist.

On the coffee alone, SM is a five star. On being a valuable cultural anchor for Lansing? Off the charts. Keep up the good work, and thank you!

I’ve been visiting SM since the day they opened. The new locations have all been a delight and I’m so excited to see what they open next! The coffees are delicious and the donuts are out of this world amazing. I literally plan my weekend around them. The first thing I consumed after delivering my baby last year was an everything donut and lavender latte. I also ordered a dozen donuts for the nurses. Love in a pink box. Also the aesthetic is fire and never disappoints.

I would like to dedicate this post to SM donuts! I am hooked. I follow SM on Instagram and drool over their donuts from a distance so when I'm in town, I go out of my way to get that precious pink box. Over the holidays I stopped in and bought the chai, sugar cookie, and butter cookie donuts to share with friends (but secretly I wanted to keep them to myself). The sugar cookie one had a scoop of sugar cookie dough in the middle!!! It was insane in the best way possible. Their coffee is also excellent but I mostly just go for the donuts. I have lived in many big cities and can honestly say that few places come remotely close in terms of flavor, quality, and creativity. Obviously some very talented people there. Can't wait to see what they have when I'm in town next!

Where do I even start? Maybe with the mouthwatering baked good made fresh each day, or maybe the rotating variety of the BEST coffee I have ever had, or shall I describe my love the the cinnamon honey latte that is truly what my dreams are made of?

Strange Matter has never disappointed me, in fact I have driven well over an hour at times to obtain their delicious baked goods and coffee. This amazing bunch of humans have created such a beautiful and inclusive business, that not only gives back to their community but also cares for one another (as evidenced to me by the owner’s care for her staff throughout the past 2 years). I honestly can say that I’ve never been to a better coffee shop.

Go here. Get a scone, get a donut, get a latte, definitely get a bag of beans to take home and enjoy.

There are a lot of donut places out there - and Strange Matter is top notch. I love that my friends who have dietary restrictions can get a donut at the same place I can and they are AMAZING. SO DELICIOUS. The coffee is also a fav and I love the way they share their creativity with their food in the designs and flavors. SO. GOOD.

Great coffee and food options. I'm a big fan of trying different flavors and the selection of donuts is great, especially since they have special seasonal flavors as well. I love that they offer a lot of vegan options, and that most of the baked goods are vegan while maintaining professional tastes

Love this place! The donuts are fantastic and the Oat Nola is one of my favorite coffees ever! I love that you can buy their drinks bottled too. Also, if you’re a Star Wars fan just wait until they announce their May the 4th doughnuts! They’re always amazing!

Strange matter is one of the best Lansing spots for donuts. They have a very inclusive staff that want to make sure you have a great experience. They will customize your drink orders for specific allergies. Would definitely recommend going to Strange Matter any day of the week
